Clariol Hair Food
I was walking through Target and the display for Clariol Hair Food caught my eye. I had never seen this product line before. There are three varieties. Moisture, Volume & Clarifying. Each line contains a shampoo, conditioner, and treatment. Each product retails for about $9.99. Based on my hair's needs I chose the moisturizing line. First off the smell is incredible. I'm a big one on scent so if I don't like it, even if it works fantastic, I won't use it. This is apricot & honey. The shampoo has a big lather, and my hair feels like silk after the conditioner. All products are silicone, paraben & mineral oil free. Just a little background on why you don't want those ingredients. Silicone & mineral oil coat the hair shaft and actually makes it impossible for true moisture & proteins to penetrate. At first your hair will look and feel silky, but over time it will feel dry and coated. Parabens are chemical compounds to preserve products. They have also been linked to cancer. I try to avoid them in ALL my products. I only wish it was also sulfate free because that would be the ultimate! However this did NOT strip my color either, so that's a big deal. I definitely give this product a high rating! I'm looking forward to trying the other lines within it. I love that it comes in a big bottle, and has it's own pump. This makes using it in the shower so much easier too. Both bottles have lasted for my family of 4 for a little over a month, almost 2.
Rimmel

I found a coupon in the paper for $1 off any Rimmel product, and they were on sale for buy one get one 50% off so I thought why not give it a shot. If I don't like it, I have a teen who loves make up herself. I chose Rimmel Stay Matte Primer, & Matte BB Cream. My make up always starts out flawless, but after a couple hours of work it tends to look shiny, and sometimes even slide right off. This is not the case with this duo. It doesn't go on as smoothly as I am accustomed to. This might be the matte properties. It's nothing using a little oil free moisturizer immediately before can't cure. The primer is just that. Preps the area for the next step. This definitely took away any and all shine. I would NEVER use this alone like I do some other primers. It's white, but turns clear as you rub it in. Over all I think this product is just okay. For the price $6 retail, it gets the job done. The BB Cream I am definitely more impressed with. I first and foremost love that it contains sunscreen. That's a must! It glides on with a lot more ease than the primer. I tried it without the primer, and I do believe they work more effectively as a duo, but I wasn't unhappy. The coverage is just more buildable with both. It comes in 3 shades~ light, medium and dark. This retails for $5 ( or if you catch it on sale with coupons like I did nearly free! ). Below is my finished look with Rimmel. Everything (powder, lipgloss, mascara ) is from them EXCEPT my eyeshadow/brows ( that's Too Faced Chocolate Bar ).
